This is a monumental pair of Britannia Standard (95.8%) silver. They were made in London in 1909 by the famous London silversmiths and dealers LA Crichton. Crichton was famous for remaking pieces in the style of the 18th century masters silversmith such as Paul de Lamerie and they were always to the very finest quality and these casters are no exception. There is a set of casters of the same design by Paul de Lamerie, London 1733 in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
